About Us

Our Story, Our Promise

Buttercup Woodlands Campground has been part of the Butler County community since April 1977, when it was founded by the Domhoff Family. After more than two decades of care under the Domhoffs, the Tanski Family took ownership in 1999 and kept the campground going until January 2024.

Our History

From the Past to the Present

For decades, Buttercup Woodlands has been a go-to destination for campers in Renfrew and beyond. Many families have grown up camping here, returning year after year to create traditions around summer weekends, holiday gatherings, and quiet escapes.

In 2024, we purchased the campground with a vision to honor its roots while giving it a fresh start. We invested in major upgrades, including renovated cabins, a brand-new swimming pool, an expanded playground, and new recreational options like pickleball and cornhole. Our focus is on blending the rustic charm that longtime campers love with modern touches that make every stay comfortable and fun.

A New Chapter

Rebuilding Trust, Redefining Camping

We know that the past left some campers disappointed, and that’s why our commitment goes beyond just updating amenities. We are focused on rebuilding trust, restoring pride in Buttercup Woodlands, and creating a campground experience that feels like family. Every decision we make is centered around making your stay better, more enjoyable, and more welcoming than ever before.

Our Values

More Than Just a Campground

At Buttercup Woodlands, we believe camping is about more than a tent, a site, or a cabin. It’s about the people you meet, the memories you create, and the community you build along the way.

That’s why our motto is more than just words — it’s a promise:

“Where campers become friends, and friends become family.”

We live this by creating an environment that is:

Welcoming: Every camper feels at home from the moment they arrive.
